I hope you found my book helpful. Actually, part of the purpose of the book is to point out that the authors one read inform how one sees culture (especially in a world where so many scholars write as if there is only one definition). Mostly, we look at how scholars are using “culture” differently now than 50 years ago, with many more scholars looking at tensions within cultures, power structures that affect the creation, maintenance, and spread of cultures (“critical” definitions) and discourses even within definitions that make “culture” hard to pin down.

On my own, Ive been reading a nice book on globalization called Cultural Globalization (J. MacGregor Wise)–its very accessible, borders between scholarly and everyday reading. I’m reading the chapter on global music flows, cultural imperialism, and so on.
